DOI250AA is a national, community-guided initiative of the Chinese American Community Action Planning Council (CACAPC.net). We are an independent effort shaped by Asian American leaders, educators, bridge-builders, and supporters across the United States.
We are not part of the America250 Commission — we contribute to this historic moment through civic service, shared learning, and community participation.
Chinese American For Equal Rights, CAFER managed the CRCEA80 National Commemoration, and following its success, CACAPC was established to carry that work forward with deeper reflection and collaborative vision. Today, CACAPC guides the DOI250AA initiative, while CAFER continues its support as the fiscal sponsor.
Our Lived Experience Shapes Our Purpose
Asian Americans carry a unique journey. Many crossed oceans, lived in multiple countries, and rebuilt their lives before settling in the United States. These experiences prepared us to navigate diversity, adapt across cultures, and seek belonging while honoring our identity.
Because of this, we enter America’s 250th year with a clear belief: communities grow stronger when people learn from one another and value each other’s stories.
Our Collaborative Journey
This work began with strong roots in the Chinese American community. Our earlier project — Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Repealing the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, led by Chinese American for Equal Rights (CAFER) — brought together more than 80 organizations, leaders, scholars, and community groups who contributed to planning, execution, and program development. The year-long editorial effort produced a commemorative book that was accepted into the Library of Congress LCCN: 2025474484, ensuring this history becomes part of the permanent American record. That experience taught us something essential: when people step forward with openness, trust, and respect for each other’s capabilities, collaboration becomes natural. Building on that foundation, our team has now expanded to include Asian Americans of many backgrounds and non-Asian partners who share the same civic purpose.
We acknowledge one another’s experiences, contributions, and cultural journeys. We co-learn, co-inspire, and co-create, recognizing that America’s story is strengthened when people work side by side rather than in isolation or doubt. This is how we choose to celebrate 250 years — with shared responsibility, mutual respect, and a commitment to a more cohesive future.
Our Contribution to America’s 250th Year (DOI250AA)
We connect civic, cultural, and educational voices around the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence — a reminder that dignity and humanity must guide how we treat one another.
The Declaration was written to break away from restrictive old systems and affirm that all people are born with dignity, equality, and unalienable rights — the same values that shape our work today.
As part of this national effort, we are preparing a 2026 national compilation book to preserve the stories, reflections, and contributions shared through Community Exchanges across the country. We invite individuals and organizations to take part — your names, experiences, and contributions may be included in this national record, just as CRCEA80 preserved voices from a significant moment in Chinese American history.
