At holiday gatherings, guests may notice small things the host overlooked, such as a stain on the floor or a tilted portrait on the wall. A close friend may quietly point out the issue to the host, while a polite guest may remain silent. However, if the issue is found before guests’ arrival, the host will immediately take action to fix it. The host is a stakeholder.
2026 is the 250th Anniversary of the United States. A group of Asian Americans launched an initiative titled “Declaration of Independence 250: Asian American Celebration.” (https://doi250aa.net/) It invites all Asian Americans to participate in the America250 celebration as stakeholders.
As stakeholders, we celebrate social progress over 250 years, the expansion of equal rights for all people.
As stakeholders, we share our experiences and contributions. Asian American stories are American stories.
As stakeholders, we show up and participate in civic activities. Asian Americans take the responsibility for creating solutions to American challenges.
As stakeholders, we are the builders of America’s future. Asian Americans are Americans. We have a shared destination with all Americans.
Humanity is ultimately one; we must strive for a society in which all individuals can achieve their full potential and live fulfilling lives. As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, it is up to all of us to work together toward realizing our shared American Dream.
