Volunteer with DOI250AA
Volunteering with DOI250AA is more than lending a hand — it’s about connecting across cultures, supporting meaningful events, and being part of the story of America’s 250th anniversary.
We welcome volunteers, performers, speakers, and event hosts who wish to share their time and talents at national and local gatherings. Volunteers may travel within or across states, and certain expenses (such as mileage, meals, or lodging) may be covered if funding is available.
Volunteers may also receive orientation, cultural etiquette / sensitivity briefings to enhance understanding and collaboration across diverse communities — a valuable experience that enriches both your personal and social life.
General Volunteers
All roles are non-paid and service-based. Volunteers may support national events or be referred to local community events in their city, state, or beyond. Following are examples for services.
Event Support: Set-up, clean-up, registration, ushering, tech support, logistics.
Outreach & Promotion: Flyer distribution, digital sharing, community outreach.
Translation & Interpretation: Bilingual support, subtitling, interpretation.
Creative Assistance: Photography, videography, graphic design, media editing.
Hospitality: Greeting guests, helping with meals, coordinating transport.
Youth & Education Support: Assisting with weekend schools, workshops, and mentoring.
Volunteer Performers
We invite cultural performers and artists to share their gifts:
Traditional and modern music, dance, and theater
Spoken word, storytelling, and poetry
Visual art and live demonstrations
Volunteer Speakers & Presenters
We welcome community members, educators, and professionals who can:
Give talks or lead workshops on Asian American history, identity, and heritage
Share personal or family stories of cultural journeys
Present on cross-cultural learning, leadership, or civic engagement
Guide intergenerational and multicultural dialogues
Volunteer Event Hosts & Facilitators
Event hosts help shape the audience experience by:
Emceeing cultural festivals or DOI250AA gatherings
Facilitating panel discussions or webinars
Leading interactive activities or heritage showcases
Representing DOI250AA at associated events
Special Note for Toolkit Hosts
If you are hosting a small group event with a DOI250AA toolkit and submitting your reflections, you do not need to apply through this page. Your participation already qualifies for community service hours.
Service Hours & Requirements
Community Service or Professional Development Hours may be awarded for qualified activities.
Volunteers must provide proof of service (supervisor signature, photos, or task log) to receive verification.
We do not provide verification for court-mandated service hours.
Adults may be asked to complete a background check depending on role.
